I wanted to start this blog as a way to remember Nolan's first year and all the things that happened during it. Seeing how fast the past 10 weeks has gone, and how I can barely remember what happened last week, is what inspired me to start this. Plus my wonderful hubby and baby daddy is a blog maniac. He is very funny and witty and a great writer, while I am not, so this will probably be a boring blog. But it is more for me than to entertain others.
So to begin with, I just wanted to just bullet point some stats and events that have happened over the last 10 weeks. And I hear Nolan fussing in the other room, which means he woke up from his nap so the rest of this post will have to wait. OK, I am back as Nolan just went back down for another nap.
Birth Stats
- Nolan was born on April 16th, 2011 at 6:36 am.
- He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz
- He was 21 inches long
- Born at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan
Milestones
- Checked out of the hospital on April 18th and Nolan now weighed 7 lbs 6 oz.
- At his pediatrician appointment on April 26th, his weight was now 8 lbs and he was still 21 inches. His head size was 14 1/2 inches.
- At his pediatrician appointment on May 31st, his weight was now 9 lbs 14 oz and he was 23 inches long. His head size was 15 1/8 inches. This puts him in the 27th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for length. Long and lean!
- We took him to his first baseball game on April 22nd. People thought I was crazy for taking him to Ryan's game, but we bundled him up and he slept through the whole thing.
- His first smile (that we think was actually a reaction to us and not from gas and the massive poops he lets out) was on May 25th.
- He attended the MAAC Tournament from May 26-May 28 in Trenton, NJ where we saw Ryan's team win the MAAC Championship. He stayed awake for some of the games, but pretty much slept through those as well. This was also his first hotel stay.
- His first flight was when he was 6 weeks old and was on June 3rd. It was from Westchester Airport to Orlando Airport. We were heading to Gainesville to the University of Florida to watch the Manhattan Jaspers at the NCAA Regional Tournament. He did great on the airplane. I nursed him on takeoff and landing and then he pretty much slept through the rest of the flight. We went with Katie and her two girls, Taylor and Madelyn.
Those are most of his first milestones and some of the big things that happened during his first 10 weeks of life. I look forward to updating this more often so we can keep up on all the changes he is making day to day.
